ASTROLOGICAL
TRANSITS FOR JANUARY AND FEBRUARY, 2014
I am a
student of Astrology and I would like to offer a summary of monthly planetary
transits, based on the interpretations and forecasting by great astrologers
accessible through the web. Transits are
the ongoing movements of the planets as they travel around the zodiac,
positioning themselves in a specific area of the mandala, making aspects with
other planets, while impacting different areas of our life. Astrologers use planetary transits as a method
of interpretation and forecasting. We
can look into our own personal astrological chart and find out where the
transits of the planets fall and how they influence us.
The year 2014
began with the New Moon in Capricorn, on January 1. During the New Moon we plant the seeds that
are harvested in the full moon.
Capricorn rules structures, discipline, responsibility, patience,
perseverance, efficiency and ambitions, among others. The new moon was aligned with Pluto and
Mercury also in Capricorn, setting the structural path for manifestation of our
new year intentions. The full moon on
January 15 in the feminine sign of Cancer, highlighted our emotions and the
support system needed to feel safe and secure.
The second
new moon of the year, also happening in the month of January, occur on January
30 in the sign of Aquarius, the sign of revolutions, freedom, originality,
innovation, sudden change, ideals, technology and science. The full moon of
February occurs on Valentine’s Day, February 14, in the creative and loving
sign of Leo. The Moon in Leo offers us
the creative ways to connect with the power of love. The full moon in Leo is
opposing the Sun and Mercury in Aquarius highlighting the work to be done in
loving ourselves and loving others, between personal love and universal
love. This is further challenged by the
planet Saturn in Scorpio, in a square with the moon and the sun, making us
aware of our fears, addictions and commitment issues.
Venus, the
planet of love, beauty and harmony stationed direct in Capricorn on January 31,
after a retrograde period from the winter Solstice. On January 11, 2014 Venus started a new cycle
of 18 months in Capricorn until August 15, 2015. Venus in Capricorn is the archetype of the
Sacred Feminine, The Feminine Elder, bringing us the big vision on how to
structure ourselves, our relationships, our values and material resources.
Mercury
appears retrograde from February 6 in Pisces and Aquarius. Mercury, the messenger between heaven and
earth, is the planet of communication, intelligence and the lower mind, ruling
speaking and listening, negotiating, buying and selling, contracts, documents,
travel. Mercury retrograde tends to
create some confusion, power outages, computer breakdowns and difficulties in
communication, personally and technologically.
Mercury will turn direct again on February 28.
The Sun
enters Pisces on February 18, the sign of the arts, mysticism, spirituality,
dreams, fantasy and transcendence. On
February 23 the Sun will join Neptune (ruler of Pisces) in conjunction. Time to
be receptive and to connect with the energies of dreaming consciously and
co-creating, in this transcendental moment of the turning of the ages.
